The Undying Apathy Of Imogen Shroud by Ben White
Zombies vs. Apathetic Teenager = Fun Read
Fun
book! This is a fast-paced piece of fiction all about zombies. While
the main character is under 21, this is more of an adult book rather
than a young adult (but maybe good for over 13). The writer had me
hooked from the first chapter, and it was hard to put down once I
started reading it. I haven't read much 'zombie' books, but this one was
a fun read.
The main character is 17-year old Imogen, who
doesn't conform to society & does her own thing, is afraid to leave
her bedroom after a failed love affair at 15, and has a little brother
who idolizes her. Her mother gives little attention to the care of the
household, and while her grandfather is practically a pervert who
bordlines on senile, she continues to visit him and get him books he
enjoys. All this is a precursor to her survival mode once the zombies
appear. The real action starts once Imogen and her brother attend a
comic-com festival.
All in all, a great book, and I enjoyed Ben White's writing style. Looking forward to his next book.
Enjoy,
